In the Heights

In the Heights
Whoa! Before I even say hello, I must tell you about the show last night! Can you say UNBA??? OMG. Unfreakinbelievable!!! I laughed, I cried, I danced...and had I known the words, I woulda sang too! So fresh. So young, So hip. I loved every minute of it! We actually had the joy of seeing the original Broadway cast! ...not a touring company. ...and EVERY ONE of the major players were amazing. Ya know sometimes you see a show and someone is great? One shining star that stands out? ...well last night EVERYONE was fabulous.

All I can say is if you get the chance to see
"In the Heights",
you definitely should take it!

Whew. OK. Now that that's over, hello!
So last night we had dinner at Tyrannosaurus Mex (T-Mex) on Himarshee Street. We ate al fresco (outside) and I had a yummy burrito filled with lettuce, tomatoes, cilantro and huge grilled shrimp. Yummo! Other than last nights play and dinner, not much new happening. Today is Publix, laundry, and stopping by the neighbors for a quick kids birthday party showing. Not much else on the agenda. Maybe you guys have some interesting tidbits to share. Please feel free to leave comments. I am a little tired of hearing myself yap all the time. (OK, maybe not tired of me, I just wanna hear about you too.) Have a great day! Love and hugs. xoxo

GORG

Today is the most gorgeous day in a loooooooooooooong time. Sun is out. Warm breeze is blowing and it's probably 75 degrees. Perfection! Rita's scrubbing, Mitchy's sunning and I'm hanging with the dogs. We have some errands to do today. Dry cleaners, make a photo disc and do some shopping, but mostly resting so I can get better. Mitch is outside getting some vitamin D with his girl Unno. Tonight we have theater tickets. We're gonna see "In the Heights." I'm looking forward to it. Reviews tomorrow.

Just a little shout out to my Nephdog Cosmopolitan. Today is his very first birthday. Happy birthday beauty. Auntie Rand loves you. Woof.

...and to the Heller Family in NJ, mazel tov on Remi's Bat Mitzvah!
Hope the weekend is fabulous! xoxo

Of course today's picture should be Cosmo, cause it's his birthday, but that will have to wait. For your viewing pleasure this afternoon, my man and his girl. Sunning. LOL...Ain't they just precious?

Today was work. It was my friend Sandy's last day. Also, this real nice lady who had worked at the company for 20 years retired today. There was lots of cake. Oh my. I was good though.

Mitch came to the office and surprised me with a quart of matzoh ball soup. He's the best! After work, Mitchy and I ate at a new little Armenian dive by the house. Very yummy. We watched Tim Burton's "9" and then watched "The Time Traveler's Wife". Both had good parts. 9 was visually gorgeous. ...and TTTW was a tear jerker with a new twist on a plot. Neither was a fabulous movie in my opinion, but we enjoyed them. That's all there is to report today. Remind me to tell you about my friend Jacquie's matzoh ball story one day. You'll plotz. Anyway, it's late. Gonna hit the hay. I need to beat this flu and get back to my life. Hope everyone is doing well. XOXO Talk soon.

St Patty's Day

Erin Go Braless my Lads and Laddys! Happy St. Pattys Day to yas!

Last night Mitchy and I watched the George Clooney movie "Up in the Air". I give it a 6.5. Interesting. Love George. Not sure why all the Oscar hype, but enjoyed the movie nonetheless.

So let's see...today was work. Pretty busy. Then I had my Series 7 class. It was actually our last of 8 weeks of classes. I took the teachers card so when I'm ready to take my test, I can call him to schedule some private tutoring. I'm not ready just yet, but hope to take (and pass) my test this year.

After class I came home, played on Facebook, Blogspot and ebaY while watching NCIS and American Idol with the dogs. Now eating some dinner while watching a DVR of House.

That's it!

Starting to feel better, finally...

Today was work. I am running on 1/2 speed but doing better. Went to lunch with my friend Katie. We had sushi. I had the best spicy yellowtail handroll with brown rice and avocado. It was the best best best thing I have ever eaten! Yummmo! Bluefin Sushi. Yamato and Congress. Delish!

Oh, hello. I almost forgot. Last night was weight watchers. I lost another 1.8 pounds. New grand total...25! Yay! 19 weeks. 25 pounds. Aesop taught us that "Slow and steady wins the race..." And my mommy always said that losing even one pound a week is over 50 pounds in a year. She's very smart. Weight Watchers is so much better than Jenny Craig. On Jenny, I lost 25 pounds in 6 weeks. Then gained 11 back in one week. Weight Watchers is actually teaching me how to make smart food choices. No frozen and processed nonsense. Real food. I don't even think I'm on a diet. I just make better food choices. Nice! Go me!

Hope y'all are having a great week. Don't forget everyone! ...tomorrow is HUMP DAY! Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeee. LOL...What a geek.

Since today's rantings were all about food, please enjoy today's photo. Food! Wish you were all here at our dinner table with us. Hearty appetite. Manga!

Think Pink- Dedicated to all the Pink Warriors

Friday I found out that someone I love very much has breast cancer. She has been going back and forth to doctors for 2 1/2 months since her first questionable mammography in December. One test after the other. She was poked and prodded through each one. Finally, last week, the result was that the questionable area in the mammogram was in fact, malignant. She will need some surgery. Hopefully just a lumpectomy, and she can keep the breast. ...but you really can't know 'til you get in there. More pokes and prods. Lots of concerns, unanswered questions and of course some fear.

But she is strong. I know in my heart she will be fine. ...and she is not alone. She has a huge circle of people who adore her. Daughters, sons, grandchildren, friends and even a great-grandbaby. This lady is a true warrior in every sense of the word. Please send a good thought (or two ...hundred) her way. :)

While I have your attention, I urge you to touch your titties. Do self exams. Whether breast cancer is in your family or not, you must, at the very least, check each year. Please do a yearly mammogram. I don't wanna stand on a soap box, I just wanna know that you are all aware of mammograms, and their importance, and that you do them yearly.

I would like to dedicate todays blog entry to all the brave women I have known who have lost their fight to breast cancer (Barbara Gelber, Patricia Roth Disraeli, Rosalyn Roth Friedman, Sherri Krassner) and to those who will never quit the fight! Gma, Donna Joy, Cathy, Risa.

I love you.
