Project 365. A year in pictures. A new photo each day. ...or not.

10/12/10

Hotel had a nice, big, king sized bed, with clean sheets and no dogs. Delish. Slept late. Had room service for breakfast. Said goodbye to Connie and Shelly. Got in the car...Had a flat tire. Went to Tire Kingdom. They couldn't get the tire we needed 'til the morning. Called BMW Roadside Assistance. They would pick us up at Tire Kingdom, and bring us to BMW, but the service department was closed until Monday at 8am.

My new car came with fancy new tires called Run Flats. A run flat can go up to 50 miles after it gets punctured. They are supposed to be much safer (yet more expensive) than a regular tire. With Run Flats, you don't need a spare tire since the tire will not blow out. Great right? Only problem is, less than 4% of cars on the road today use these tires so most places don't stock them. Or, as we learned on our trip to Tampa, no one stocks them. The nice girl at Tire Kingdom was trying her best to get us what we needed.

Connie and Shelly came and stayed with us. Calling Sears, Firestone, Goodyear etc., to no avail. So as with most things. when all else fails, just go eat! The four of us went down the street to YOGURTOLOGY. It's like the "Orange Leaf" concept we have here in Boca. 10 flavors of yogurt in self serve machines, with a "Salad Bar" of toppings and you pay by the ounce... But Yogurtology was WAY BETTER than Orange Leaf!!! Many more choices of toppings and cheaper. Loved it. Food is love. We went back to the tire place and had to spend money for a regular tire so we could at least get home. (You shouldn't use a regular tire with three Run Flats. Different tire pressure and not great for the car. But we had to get home.) We have an appointment for this Saturday at BMW to get the tire we need. Hopefully Hubs will be able to sell the Tire Kingdom tire on eBay. ...and we got home safely and in time for work.
