Got up around 7am. Got dressed. Debbie picked Sissy, little neph and me up at 8:30am and dropped us at the waxing lady for an 8:45 appt. She did dry cleaning, Dunkin Donuts and picked us back up, with coffee. Large hazelnut, light and sweet for me. Then we dropped her at the store, and we took her car to the hair salon. Sissy and I got de-curled and beautified. Went back to the store and shopped. Got a few tops, a pair of jeans and two yoga pants.
Deb gave me a gorgeous sparkly peace sign bracelet. She's the best! Love you Deb!!! A little later, BIL, all the nephs and Sissy and I went for lunch. The family opened a new quick casual restaurant up there called SMASHBURGER. I hadn't been there yet, so we went. It was sooooooo busy! That's a good thing. It was really clean and pretty! That's another good thing.
...and everything I tasted, from a mushroom, bacon cheeseburger, with an egg on top, to the fried pickles, rosemary sweet potato fries and the oreo cookie milkshake, was delish!!! Crazy, funky, delicious place! Remember the name...SMASHBURGER. You heard it here first. Congrats you guys! Awesome concept. Beautiful place! Delicious food!!! May you have years of success in your new venture!!!
Then it was noon and time to get on the road and travel to Long Island, NY, to get the weekend festivities started! Who wants to drive with Les and Poppy??? NOBODY!!! Actually, my Daddy is a good driver. It's the Mom/Dad duo team that makes us all crazy.
MOM: Mel, do you want me to put on Mrs. Garmin?
DAD: Nah. I know where I'm going...
...a few miles later
DAD: Les, do you think I should take the Throgs Neck or the GW?
MOM: MEL! I thought you knew where you were going?
DAD: I do, I just want to see which way she's gonna send us
:pick up the navi system, click, program, type, curse, click:
MOM: I think the boys touched this. It's not working right!
DAD: Les, what is she saying?
MOM: I don't know! I can't hear her! Why are you talking???
DAD: I know how to go.
Who wants to drive with Les and Poppy?
Well, a few hours later, we got there safely! Yay. Thanks to the Mommy/Daddy team!
Here are my two beautiful cousins. Remi and Zoe. They call me Auntie and I call them my nieces, but they are really cousins. This weekend was Zoe's Bat Mitzvah. The reason we were all together! So exciting.
And here are their handsome parents. My cousins, the host and hostess of the weekend...Cousins Zach & Lisa. They hosted a family dinner on Friday at the FISH KEBOB restaurant in Port Washington. Such a nice little place! We had hummus and pita, salads, chowders, shrimp cocktail, mussels, lamb chops, seafood kebobs, and wine! Who could ask for more than that?
Here's Cousin Lisa, Zoe and Sissy.
