Project 365. A year in pictures. A new photo each day. ...or not.

L'Shana Tovah!

This evening at sundown, Rosh Hashanah began. According to the Judiasm 101 website, Rosh Hashanah is commonly known as the Jewish New Year. This name is somewhat deceptive, because there is little similarity between Rosh Hashanah, one of the holiest days of the year, and the American midnight drinking bash and daytime football game. There is, however, one important similarity between the Jewish New Year and the American one: Many Americans use the New Year as a time to plan a better life, making "resolutions." Likewise, the Jewish New Year is a time to begin introspection, looking back at the mistakes of the past year and planning the changes to make in the new year. And, like most of the Jewish holidays, we celebrate by feasting.

Here we all are. Sissy, BIL, Hubs, Big, Middle and Little neph. All gathered around the family table. We were missing some parts, like our moms and dads, and my boy Mr Gorgeous, but it was wonderful to be with family nonetheless. There's nothing like family.

We started the evening out with appetizers. My Sissy served us chopped liver and gefilte fish. Delish!!!

Here we all are waiting for the rest of the vittles.

Next we had yummy chicken noodle soup with luckshun, (noodles) knaydelach, (maztoh balls - dumplings) and kreplach (small dumplings filled with ground meat. They are similar to Italian tortellini or Chinese wontons) Hubs brought it home from his deli.

Then my Sissy musta been very busy in the kitchen today while I was at work because she set out such a beautiful spread! We had, brisket (from Hubs' deli), and chicken, squash soufflé, two noodle kugels, (one sweet with brown sugar and one with mushrooms and onions), mashed potatoes, broccoli casserole and two cakes.

OMG. So amazing. Food is love! Thank you Sissy! You outdid yourself!

...and here's is Big neph getting his 2nd plate!!! :) Wheeeeeeeeee.

And of course I made all gone shiny plate as usual!

So glad we could all be together. It was so nice!
Thanks guys. We love you so much!
Now off to bed. Temple tomorrow.
