Project 365. A year in pictures. A new photo each day. ...or not.

3/1/10

And the week begins

First, let me tell you I LOVED the movie last night. August Rush. Sweet! I cried the whole time. What a good movie. Definitely rent it!

As for today, OMG! What a day! Today I went to a luncheon. Yup. Instead of work this morning, I went to the Boca Resort, with half of the ladies in Boca, and I attended the 20th annual Book of Hope luncheon to benefit the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of South Florida. About 7 years ago, when my oldest nephew was 10, he was diagnosed with Crohn's disease. Crohn's disease is a chronic (ongoing) disorder that causes inflammation of the digestive or gastrointestinal (GI) tract. Although it can involve any area of the GI tract from the mouth to the anus, it most commonly affects the small intestine and/or colon. Crohn's and a related disease, ulcerative colitis, are the two main disease categories that belong to a larger group of illnesses called inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Mitch's brother (my Bro in law) also has Crohn's.

The lunch had guest speakers, all of whom have Crohn's disease, or know someone who does. It was heartwarming and heartbreaking all at the same time. 150,000 of the over a million Crohn's patients are children. There was a little boy there with his dad. His name was Grant. His dad told us that he was afflicted with the disease since pretty much birth. At 18 months old he had his first colonoscopy, and at 2 he had his colon removed. Poor, sweet little boy.

The lunch also had a silent auction. I won a basket filled with stuff! Wheeeeeeeeeeeeee. My basket had a Tory Burch cosmetic bag, and some slippers and note pads and note cards and smelly room stuff and well, just a big load of goodies. Tory Burch! Now I am in. :) I went to the affair with Michael (my boss) and my sister Sloane, My bro-in-law Marc, and Marc's mom were there too. Michael's mom and dad joined us as well. It was such a nice day. It was such a treat for a desk bound lady like myself to actually get out, during the day, during the week, and enjoy a beautiful lunch. :) Thanks for inviting me Michael.

After lunch I went to work for a little bit, and then to Weight Watchers. Lost 3 pounds! Shut the front door! 3 more freaking pounds!!! Whooooooooooo Whooooooooo. I'm down 23 1/4 in 17 weeks and I can't even believe it. Weight Watchers is awesome. I don't even feel like I'm on a diet. I'm just learning to make better food choices. I love it!

Later, met sis, bro in law, hubs and nephs at Duffy's for my favorite Iron Grilled Steak and Arugula salad. Then to sissy's house for some giveaways. (My sis is just moving down to Florida from NJ and each time she unpacks a box, she has stuff for me that she doesn't want. ) Yay. I love stuff.

Well, it's now almost midnight and I gotta get to bed. Today's picture should be of my nephew Brandon.

...To my beautifully sweet wonderful nephew, Brandon. Hope your belly's feeling ok today. You are in my heart everyday. Your smile brightens a dark place. You are amazing, strong, brave, and just so, so good. If I could give you my gizzards, I would. xoxo
I love you,
Auntie Randi.
